Roleplayer is a tabletop roleplaying app made by Kiraitami. This policy explains what the app collects, why it collects it, how long it is kept, and how you can have it erased. It covers the Roleplayer Android app and the Roleplayer sync service behind it.

Who is responsible

Roleplayer is run by one person, under the name Kiraitami. That person is the controller of the personal data described here, is also the one responsible for data protection, and answers you directly. For anything in this policy, including any request about your data, write to roleplayer@kiraitami.com.

What we collect, and why

DataWhy we have itLegal basis
Your sign-in identity. You sign in with Google. We receive an account identifier, your email address and your Google display name. To create your account, keep your worlds attached to you, and let you sign in again on another device. Performance of our agreement with you
Your profile. Your display name, your unique handle, your badges, and your profile picture if you set one. So other players can recognise you at the table. Performance of our agreement with you
What you create. Worlds, characters, creatures, sheets, notes, quests, items, places, relations, tags, images and voice messages. This is the content of the app. We store it so it survives, syncs between your devices, and reaches the people you share a world with. Performance of our agreement with you
Messages. The messages you send in a Roleplay, who sent them, when, and any media attached. To deliver them to the other people in that Roleplay. Our servers hold a message only until everyone has received it; your history lives on your own devices. Performance of our agreement with you
Safety reports. When someone reports content or an account, we store the report, its category, and evidence such as the reported messages, a snapshot of the profile or scene, and any screenshots the reporter attached. To review reports, act on them, and keep a record of what was decided. Our legitimate interest in keeping Roleplayer safe, and establishing, exercising or defending legal claims
Subscription state. Whether your account holds a paid plan, and when it expires, as reported to us by Google Play. Payments themselves are handled by Google Play, not by us. We never see your card details. To unlock what you paid for. Performance of our agreement with you
Device registration. A device identifier and a Firebase Cloud Messaging token. To send you notifications about your worlds, and to sync efficiently. Performance of our agreement with you
Crash diagnostics. If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends us a technical report: the failure, your device model and its state at that moment, and the steps that led there. Each report carries a randomly generated installation identifier so we can tell one device's crashes from another's. It carries no name, no email, and nothing you wrote in the app. To find and fix bugs. Our legitimate interest in a working app

We collect no usage analytics at all. Nothing records which screens you open, how long you stay, or what you do while you are here. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles from it.

Who else sees it

We disclose data to anyone else only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and its data at any time, from Settings → Delete my account inside the app, or by writing to roleplayer@kiraitami.com from your account's sign-in address. Full instructions are on the account deletion page.

Deletion runs in two steps. First, your account enters a 30 day grace period. Every part of the service refuses the account during it, but nothing has been destroyed, and signing back in and choosing Keep my account cancels the deletion entirely. When the 30 days elapse, the erasure runs and it is permanent. There is no way to recover an account after that point.

What the erasure destroys

Every world you own and everything in it, your characters and their sheets, notes, relations and images, the Roleplays you host, your memberships, invitations and join requests, the media you stored, your plan and notification registrations, your handle (which is released and can be claimed by someone else), and your sign-in identity. The copy on your own device is erased too, the next time you open the app after the 30 days are up.

What survives, and why

Deleting your Roleplayer account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel that in Google Play subscriptions.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, and in particular under Brazil's LGPD and the European GDPR, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these, write to roleplayer@kiraitami.com. We answer within the periods the applicable law sets.

Children

Roleplayer is not for people under 16, and we do not knowingly handle their data. If you believe someone under 16 has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit, backups are encrypted before they leave our servers, and access to the production systems is restricted and logged. No service can promise perfect security, so if a breach ever puts you at real risk, we will tell you and the ANPD, as the law requires.

Where your data is stored

The database and the files you upload are held in Brazil. Two things leave the country: sign-in and push notifications run on Google's infrastructure, and crash diagnostics are processed by Google outside Brazil. Both happen under the data-protection terms Google offers for those services, which is what the law requires of a transfer. Backups leave our servers already encrypted.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we publish the new version here and in the app, and the date at the top moves. If a change is significant, the app shows it to you before it takes effect.
